CPR is a life skill everyone should know. A Mr Paramedic CPR course is practical and fun. All our course instructors are experienced paramedics trained in the latest industry standards. You will practically demonstrate CPR for a minimum of two minutes on each age group of adult, child and infant. The courses are modified to suit participant's backgrounds and employment. We focus on practical learning and create engaging scenarios for each course.

HLTAID003 Provide first aid

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills required to administer First Aid to any victim of illness or injury, until the arrival of professional medical help. Our course trainers are experienced paramedics. A Mr Paramedic First Aid course is not like any other First Aid course! It's been structured so each participant is taken through an emergency scenario where they treat the ‘victim’. After acting out the scenario, the theory behind each scenario is discussed. This is a fun, interactive learning experience. There is no pressure to know what to do, we teach you in a practical way.

HLTAID004 Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

This course is a comprehensive First Aid course suitable for all educators and carers working or planning to work with children or in a care setting. It is the new minimum standard for childcare educators, teachers and those that work in a care setting around children. The trainers for this course are experienced paramedics. The courses are engaging, fun and practical. You will be making a good choice by using Mr Paramedic to update your staff. 

 

HLTAID005 Provide first aid in remote situations

This course gives participants the skills and knowledge to provide first aid response and emergency life support to a casualty in a remote and/or isolated situation. The course applies to workers who may be required to prepare for and provide a first aid response in locations beyond the reach of timely medical assistance.

HLTAID006 Provide advanced first aid

A Mr Paramedic Advanced First Aid course gives you the knowledge, skills and confidence to act in an emergency situation. Advanced First Aid training provides the necessary skills required to confidently coordinate, manage and instruct other first aiders across a range of complex situations – as well as within the community and workplace environments. Course instructors are current on-road paramedics with a passion for training and education. 

Advanced Resuscitation - HLTAID007

The Advanced Resuscitation course provides the knowledge and skills required to administer Advanced Resuscitation (CPR) when required. This course is taught by experienced paramedics providing the most up-to-date knowledge and lastest industry standards. Practical application is a focus in this course.

Our Advanced Resuscitation courses provide greater detail and skills than the CPR update course, and utilises advanced airway techniques such as the use of oxygen and the Bag-Valve Mask (BVM) in the resuscitation. This course also teaches the insertion of airway adjuncts such as an Oropharyngeal Airway (OP) and airway suctioning.  

UETTDRRF06B Perform rescue from a live LV panel and CPR update

This course provides the knowledge and skills required to be an approved safety observer in a Low Voltage Rescue (LVR). This course is usually run in conjunction with Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as both courses are valid for 12 months.

Course trainers are experienced paramedics with the latest industry standards and knowledge. After completing a Mr Paramedic LVR course you will be confident in treating a victim and perform CPR if required until the arrival of professional medical help. All Mr Paramedic courses have been structured to ensure they are practical, engaging and fun. 

Topics covered in a Mr Paramedic LVR course include:

  • DRSABCD Action Plan
  • The six step approach when performing an Low Voltage Rescue (LVR)
  • Managing the unconscious, breathing and non-breathing casualty
  • CPR
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Burns

Epilepsy & Management of Seizures 

This specialised Mr Paramedic course provides participants with advanced techniques for management of epilepsy and seizures.

This non-accredited course is designed for those wanting more information and skills on epilepsy and seizures. It delves into the different seizure presentations and treatment of the seizure. This course is suited to people who may be around or caring for someone who suffers from epilepsy - teachers, carers, childcare educators. This course aims to give participants the confidence to recognise and treat a seizure.

HLTSS00027 Occupational First Aid Skill Set

Mr Paramedic's Workplace First Aid training is specifically designed for people employed as Occupational First Aiders and those aspiring to be employed in this role.

The course provides the occupational first aider with advanced knowledge and skills to carry out emergency first aid for injuries and illnesses in the workplace.  It will also provides participants with information on state and federal legislations as it applies to first aid in the workplace. 

PUAEME005A Provide pain management

Recognition of a casualty’s pain, combined with early initiation of formal pain management strategies, will allow first aiders to provide more comprehensive treatment to the casualties that come under their care. The application of this unit in the workplace covers the administration of restricted pain relief such as analgesics and aspirin, according to a medically endorsed protocol. The unit is typically relevant for personnel from emergency services and/or volunteer organisations or organisations that provide a medically supervised first aid service.

 

Workplace Safety & Awareness Workshop

Do you or your employees work in high risk environments whereby personal safety can be compromised? Our Workplace Safety and Awareness Workshops aim to give employees the tools to keep them safe at work. 

Mr Paramedic's Workplace Safety and Awareness Workshops provide training to healthcare professionals with the aim to keep them safe at work. Launched in 2016, the Workshops are run by our paramedic educators and focus on practical training.

This Workshop runs for approximately six hours and covers a variety of topics, including, but not limited to -

  • How to communicate with an aggressive person
  • Verbal and non-verbal cues of aggression
  • Safety tactics and concepts
  • Defensive positions

Mr Paramedic has been undertaking this type of training for more than four years with great success, as participants leave feeling confident and safe in the workplace.

The minimum number of participants per course is 12. 

Mr Paramedic conducts these workshops all over Queensland, primarily at our head offices in the Gold Coast and Townsville, but we also travel to your facility (additional travel costs will be incurred).

We recommend an annual update with our Workplace Safety and Awareness Training Workshops.

Course duration -  6 hours

Mr Paramedic can also combine the annual HLTAID001 CPR course with our Workplace Safety and Awareness Training Workshop. Companies looking to utilise this option receive a 10% discount on the cost of the CPR course.

Family First Aid

Created by Mr Paramedic, this three hour workshop is designed to give parents, grandparents and anyone looking after children the confidence to act in an emergency or First Aid situation.

The workshop covers a variety of topics including First Aid, CPR, early cues of an unwell child, falls and knocks, fevers, rashes, bites and stings.

HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely

This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to recognise potentially hazardous manual tasks, and to then prepare for and complete those tasks in a safe manner.

This course applies to all workers involved in manual handling tasks.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice. The Hazardous Manual tasks code of practice applies to this work.

Learners will be able to demonstrate essential knowledge required to effectively complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of the HLTWHS005 Conduct Manual Tasks Safely course, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the work role. This includes knowledge of:

  • key information from work health and safety (WHS) regulations relating to manual tasks and national code of practice;
  • role and responsibilities of the employer and employees in relation to manual handling safety;
  • ways in which individual workers are involved in consultation about workplace health and safety;
  • reporting mechanisms required for workplace injury and compensation claims;
  • key aspects of the risk management approach to manual tasks;
  • risk factors and potential sources of risks of hazardous manual tasks:
    - repetition
    - forces
    - postures
    - vibration
    - systems of work
  • types of manual task activity and the types of injuries that can result;
  • the relationship between the human body and risk of injury from performing manual tasks;

Functions of the human body:

  • basic function of the spine
  • body postures
  • types of muscles 
  • principles of levers

Manual handling techniques that support safe work practice:

  • preparing the load/client
  • preparing the environment
  • using the stronger muscles in the legs where possible, rather than spinal muscles
  • maintaining a neutral spine when lifting and carrying
  • using two hands to lift or carry
  • keeping the load close to the body/centre of gravity
  • avoiding lifting objects above shoulder height
  • minimising repetitive movements
  • positions not held for long periods of time
  • avoiding twisting by repositioning feet whilst turning; and
  • types and operational features of mechanical aids, tools and equipment.
